THE RESEARCH

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Incest is a form of child sexual abuse (CSA) that is regarded as the most complex, taboo; yet, places a huge impact on victims, family and Malaysian society. This form of CSA is devastating as the perpetrators are among those known by victims, most-trusted, and some even lived under the same roof, and used to play with them. The illegal, unknown and secretive sibling incestuous activities will lead to many sexual healthcare issues, and gives huge impact on the victims’ physical and mental health problems.

Further, this issue will not only affect the family of victims, but also the society as a whole. The seriousness and critical impacts of sibling incest therefore demand for more fundamental research to be carried out, in order to have meaningful insights into the issue, to examine the factors to this issue and to further strategize so the best ways to deal with sibling incest issue can be determined.
